Enlisted, Dartford, Kent, age 23, height 5 ft 2½ inches, weight 126 lbs. Resided 14 Swanley Lane, Swanley Junction, Kent. Formerly packer in flour mills.

Home 8th November 1915 to 14th April 1916; BEF 15th April 1916 to 9th April 1917.

8th November 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 13th November 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 6th January 1916, Chatham, having a rusty rifle on 1.45pm Parade, 3 days confined to Barracks; 9th March 1916, Fort Darland, absent from 6.45am Parade, 5 days confined to Barracks; 15th April 1916, posted BEF & 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 19th October 1916, sick, to Field Ambulance; 1st November 1916, rejoined Battalion; 16th November 1916, sick to Field Ambulance; 26th November 1916, 6 General Hospital; 14th December 1916, 40 Infantry Base Depot, Etaples from 3 Convalescent Camp.

20th August 1919, Statement of Relatives - Mother, Rebecca Bascombe, 14 Swanley Road Cottages,  Swanley Junction, Kent.

29th March 1920, report from Sergeant G Hart, Police Station, Swanley Junction - I respectfully beg to report for your information that Mrs Bascombe was removed from 14 Swanley Road Cottages, to Rotherhithe Infirmary through illness on 14th February 1920. And on 21st February 1920 she was removed from Rotherhithe Infirmary to Tooting Bec Asylum, where she is still detained.

 11th January 1921, memo from The Medical Superintendent, Tooting Bec Mental Hospital, Tooting, SW17 - In reply to your communication dated 7th inst Rebecca Bascombe, is till a patient in this institution, She is suffering from dementia and is in a rather ???? physical condition.

Commemorated at  Feuchy Chapel British Cemetery, Wancourt, II.I.11., Pas de Calais, France.
