Son of Mrs Francis Holmes, 16 North Farm Road, High Brooms, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Husband of  Ada Holmes, (nee Davis, widow), 39 Woodside Road, Tonbridge, Kent / Westfield Cottage, Scarboro Road?, Norton Maltans?, Yorkshire. Married 3rd March 1917, Malton, Yorkshire.

Child - Frederick Thomas Holmes, born 28th October 1917, Malton, Yorkshire.

Previously served 56 days in 12 Lancers, discharged by purchase.

Home, 10th August 1914 to 31st May 1915; BEF, 1st June 1915 to 7th July 1916; Home, 8th July 1916 to 20th December 1917.

10th August 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 22nd August 1914, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd July 1916, wounded, gun shot wounds, left shoulder & back; 8th July 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd March 1917, posted Eastern Command Depot, Shoreham by Sea, Sussex; 28th April 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

20th December 1917, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued
