31st August 1914, enlisted; 1st September 1914, joined Regiment at Tunbridge Wells; 3rd September 1914, posted 6trh Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th September 1914, appointed Lance Corporal; 12th September 1914, promoted Corporal; 5th December 1914, In Arrest, Tried by District Court Martial for striking a Soldier & sentenced to be reduced to the ranks & undergo detention for 84 days, confirmed, Officer remits 28 days of detention awarded; 7th January 1915 to 16th April 1915, Connaught Hospital, Aldershot, appendicitis (old); 15th April 1915, recommended & received abdominal belt; 1st June 1915, posted BEF.

# October 1918, Tonbridge Registration District, Ernest Henry Sawyer, died age 20.
