1911 Census - 75 Carlisle Road, Dartford - George Thomas Board, head, age 45. married, carpenter & mill joiner, building & flour mill, born Ealing, Middlesex; Florence Maud Board, wife, age 45, married 16 years, 5 children, all still alive, born Newport, Monmouthshire; Frances George Board, son, age 13, school, born Battersea, Surrey; Reginald Jonathan Board, son, age 11, school, born Battersea, Surrey; Dorothy Maud Board, daughter, age 9, born Battersea, Surrey; Albert Edward Board, son, age 5, born Dartford, Kent;
Not at home - Arthur Thomas Board, son, age 15, single, on training ship, born Battersea, Surrey.


Enlisted Dartford, Kent, 17, height 5ft 6 inches. Resided 26, Suffolk Road, Dartford, Kent. Formerly labourer.

11th May 1914, enlisted; 12th August 1916, Folkestone, embarked; 12th August 1916, Boulogne, disembarked; Joined 40 Infantry Based Depot, Etaples; 24th August 1916, posted ?? Royal West Kent Regiment.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, Somme, France.

NOTE: Soldiers Died in the Great War show Battalion as 2nd/5th & CWGC web site show it as 8th Battalion.
