Born Erith, Kent, son of  Thomas Abraham  & Annie M. Bassett, of 6, Myrtle Cottages, Arthur St., North End, Erith, Kent.

Enlisted  23rd September 1915, Woolwich, Kent, age 19, height 5 ft 6 inches, weight 104 lbs.  Resided 6 Myrtle Cottages, Erith. Formerly grocers assistant.

23rd September 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th October 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th October 1916 to 30th December 1916, Western General Hospital, Cardiff, gun shot wound, right upper arm at a range of 100 yds, bullet passed through the lateral aspect on middle ⅓ ; 9th January 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th March 1917, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

6th August 1917, date to which allowances will be paid, separation allowance of 5/3 a week & allotment of pay, 3/6 a week.

20th November 1917, Personal possessions returned; Holy Bible, 2 greeting cards, photos, cards.

13th August 1919, Statement of Relatives - Father, Thomas A Bassett, 6, Myrtle Cottages, Arthur St. North End, Erith, Kent.; Mother, Annie M Bassett, 6, Myrtle Cottages, Arthur St., North End, Erith, Kent; Brother, Arthur, age 9; Sisters - Harriet Bassett, age 34;  Charlotte, age28?; Edith Bassett, age 25; Daisy Bassett, age 16; Mabel Bassett, age 14, Millicent Bassett, age 12.

Buried at Orchard Dump Cemetery, Arleux-en-Gohelle, I.F.3., Pas de Calais, France.
