Husband of Elsie Francis Barrett (nee Saunders), 85 Glyn Road, Clapton Park, NE5. Married 11th April 1915, St Pauls, Lower *******.

Previously served.

Home, 9th September 1914 to 29th August 1915; BEF, 30th August 1915 to 22nd May 1916; Home, 23rd May 1916 to 23rd October 1917.

14th September 1914, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th June 1915, Shoreham, refusing to obey an order, not fixing his bayonet when ordered to do so. 168 hours detention;  2nd May 1916, wounded, gun shot wound right arm, dangerously ill; 23rd May 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.

23rd October 1917, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds.  Silver War Badge issued
