Private Edwin Henry WOODGATE, G/6351, 10th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  died of wounds, Flanders France, 23rd September 1917, age 20.

Born Paddock Wood, Kent, son of George and Harriett Woodgate, of 52, Sidney Road, Borstal, Kent.


1911 Census - Sidney Road, Borstal, near Rochester, Kent - George Woodgate, head, age 57, married, farm labourer, worker, born Brenchley, Kent; Hariett Woodgate, wife, age 55, married 35 years, 12 children, 11 still alive. born Paddock Wood, Kent; Frank Woodgate, son, age 23, single, stoker 1st Class Royal Navy, born Yalding, Kent; Edwin Henry Woodgate, son, age 14, farm labourer, worker, born Paddock Wood, Kent; Ebenezer Ralph Woodgate, son, age 10, born Cuxton, Kent.


Enlisted Chatham, Kent.  Resided Borstal, near Rochester, Kent.

30th September 1915, posted BEF.

Buried at Godewaersvelde British Cemetery, I. E. 41., Nord, France.

NOTE: Soldiers Died in the Great War shows 10th Battalion; CWGC web site shows 3rd Battalion.
