31st August 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th September 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th August 1916, Infantry Base BEF; 12th August 1916, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th October 1916, Thiepval, France, missing (captured 30th September 1916 after being wounded), Prisoner of War Germany; 31st December 1918, repatriated at Hull & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.
26th March 1919, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness. Silver War Badge issued
Pension, 8/3 a week for 26 weeks, conditional, disability 30%, shrapnel wound, back of right shoulder.
