Born Mereworth, Kent, enlisted 31st August 1914, Maidstone, Kent, age 19, height 5ft 6 inches, weight 120lbs. Formerly farm labourer.

Son of Mary Baker, New Pound, Mereworth, Kent.

Home, 31st August 1914 to 31st May 1915; BEF, 1st June 1915 to 14th March 1916; Home, 15th March 1916 to 26th July 1916.

2nd September 1914, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th January 1915, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 16th April 1915,appointed paid Lance Corporal; 1st January 1916, Mentioned in Dispatches; 15th February 1916, relinquishes appointment of Lance Corporal; 7th March 1916, wounded; 15th March 1916, posted Depot; 16th March to 19th May 1916, Yarrow Broadstairs, amputated left arm, to Shorncliffe; 19th May to 27th May 1916, Shorncliffe Military Hospital, amputated left arm;

26th July 1916, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds.  Silver War Badge issued.

Pension of 25/- for 2 months then 10/6 for life.
