3rd May 1916, embarked Southampton; 4th May 1916, disembarked Havres; 14th September 1916, Field Ambulance, shell wound forearm; 15th September 1916, rejoined Battalion; 26th June 1917, wounded; 28th June 1917, 24 General Hospital Etaples; 13th July 1917, transferred to England; 13th July 1917 to 13th August 1917, Beaufort, Bristol, gun shot wound left knee; 14th August 1917 to 9th October 1917, Military Convalescent Hospital, Woldingham; 18th October 1917, Eastern Command Depot, Shoreham by Sea, gun shot wound knee, DAH rest in bed; 30th December 1917, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 7th February 1918 to 30th April 1918, Southborough Hospital.

Disability 50%, not attributable but aggravated by conditions serving with BEF. Gun shot wound left knee healed. Present condition, loss of weight, sleeplessness. Valvular disease of the heart, originated Chatham 1917. Transferred to Bristol with gun shot wound left knee July 1917, during convalescence reported sick, giddiness & dyspepsia on exertion. Sent to Shoreham, treated by rest and fluid diet, sent to Southborough, regulated exercise and tonics, some improvement.

6th June 1918, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness. Silver War Badge issued
