Statement of No.12049 Pte Field C. J.- R.W.Kent R - "Sir, On the evening of the 12th inst. myself & remainder of two teams of the battery were withdrawing guns from the position In the village of Grandcourt. I was carrying the base plate weighing thirty pounds over my shoulder and was changing over to the other, when the carrying rope broke and it dropped across my right foot. We had not far to go to the Queens Head Quarters? where the guns were to be left for a linber to pick up. As I could not walk I was told to remain behind, also , but my foot was so painful I went to the dressing station."
