Private Albert James LIND,  L/9069,  2nd  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died Prisoner of War, Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force,  5th October  1916. 

Born Lee, Kent, enlisted 7th October 1908, Woolwich, Kent, age 19, height 5ft 4 inches, weight 115lbs, resided Charlton, Kent. Formerly cable works labourer.

Son of Henry William & Frances Lind, 350 Woolwich Road, Charlton, SE.

Previously served with 3rd Battalion, Special Reserve, Royal West Kent Regiment. Enlisted Woolwich, 15th March 1907 to 6th October 1908, age 17, height 5ft 4 inches, weight 111lbs, cable works labourer.

Postings - Home, 7th October 1908 to 10th December 1909; India, 11th December 1909 to 31st January 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force, 1st February 1915 to 5th October  1916. 

29th June 1912, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 9th August 1913, appointed paid lance Corporal; 30th January 1915, promoted Corporal; 18th March 1915, reverted to Private, own request.

18th May 1915, making an improper remark to an NCO, 7 days confined to Barracks.

29th April 1916, captured at Kut-al-Amara and interred at Tausus.

Buried at Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, XXI. O. 30., Iraq.
