Enlisted 4th March 1915 (service reckons from 3rd March 1915), Bromley, Kent, age 19, resided 6 Love Lane, South Norwood, Surrey. Formerly seaman.

3rd March 1915, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th March 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st October 1915, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment & BEF; 9th May 1916, gun shot wound, head; 1st June 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th September 1916, Currie Ward, Bed 5,  Military Hospital, Bethnal Green, machine gun bullet, right parietal region.

4th October 1916, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension, 25/- a week for 6 months, conditional.
