Private  Arthur CHAMPION, G/15491, Depot / 11th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died at home 4th July 1917.

Born Folkestone, Kent.

1915 December Quarter, Elham Registration District, married Ellen Marsh.

1916, September Quarter, Elham Registration District, birth Arthur G Champion.

Enlisted Folkestone, Kent.

1919, September Quarter, Dover Registration District, Ellen Champion married Charles A Kennett.

Buried at Folkestone Old Cemetery, grave reference  C. "C." 1885.

** message from David Mooring, "Sorry, no gravestone at Cheriton Road. Made contact with the lady with all the records. Have grave number 1885 in plot 20, but no stone there, but do have this, Arthur Champion, age 28, Private in the Army, died on the 4th July 1917, at Lord Darby's Hospital, Warrington, Lancashire. Address from which the body was brought, 37 Bridge Street, Folkestone, buried in consecrated grave 1885, on the 9th July 1917."

NOTE: CWGC Grave Registration Documents show that a Permanent Private Memorial was to be erected.
