The under mentioned to be Captains:- Dated 4th September, 1914. Alfred Hopewell Pullman, late Captain, The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment.

London Gazette 14th November 1914.

9th Battalion, The Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment), Captain A. H. Pullman, Reserve of Officers, to be temporary Major. Dated 31st October, 1914. 

London Gazette 4th November 1915.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously, 'pleased to approve of the appointment of the under mentioned Officers to be  Companions of the Distinguished Service Order, in recognition of their gallantry and devotion to duty in the Field.

Captain (temporary Major) Alfred Hopewell Pullman, Reserve of Officers, The Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment), attached 8th Battalion.

For conspicuous gallantry near Hulluch on 26th September, 1915, when he commanded his company with skill during the retirement, although wounded, and collected men to cover the movement until it was completed. This was accomplished under heavy machine-gun fire from the enemy at close range.

Temporary Major A. H. Pullman, D.S.O. (Captain, Reserve of Officers), from a Service Battalion, to be temporary Major (attached). 1 March 1917, with seniority from 31 Oct. 1914.

London Gazette 20th March 1918.

Temporary Major A. H. Pullman, D.S.O. (Captain, Reserve of Officers), relinquishes his temporary rank on account of ill health contracted on active service, and is granted the hon. rank of Major 21 March 1918.
