Lieutenant Oliffe Richmond NICHOLAS, 3rd  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (attached 1st Battalion, Connaught Rangers), killed in action, 17th April 1916, age 34.

Son of the late John Nicholas (late Lt. 95th Regiment), and Rose Emily Nicholas. M.A., B.C.L. of Oxford (Worcester College). Barrister at Law, Inner Temple. Gazetted August 1914.

Commemorated at Basra Memorial, Panel 29, Iraq.

NOTE: Officers Died in the Great War shows date of death as 17th April 1916; CWGC web site shows it as 18th April 1916.
