Royal West Kent Regiment - Private Derrick Beale Brook, from Inns of Court Officers Training Corps, to be Second Lieutenant. Dated 27th December, 1915.

London Gazette 29th November 1917.

Royal West Kent Regiment. - The under mentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants -  1st July 1917 : D. B. Brook.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the following Awards to the under mentioned Officers and Warrant Officers in recognition of their gallantry and devotion to duty in the Field:

AWARDED THE MILITARY CROSS

Lieutenant Derrick Beale Brook, Royal West Kent Regiment.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He lead his men with great courage and determination in a raid on the enemy's trenches. He moved about from one party to another regardless of danger, and guided his men skilfully to their objectives. He entered a "pill-box" from which the enemy refused to come out and killed all the occupants.
