Lance Corporal William SIMONS, G/16305, 3rd Platoon, "A" Company, 11th  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, (multiple shrapnel wounds), 11 Casualty Clearing Station, France, 27th July 1917, age 26.

Born Shoeburyness, Essex, son of James Simons, of Shoeburyness, Essex.

Enlisted Southend, Essex, age 24 years & 6 months, height 5ft 5½ inches, weight 119lbs, requires dental treatment.  Resided 14 Smith Street, Shoeburyness, Essex. Formerly hairdresser.

Next of Kin (Brother) - Albert Simons, Newcastle.

Buried at Godewaersvelde British Cemetery, I. A. 16., Nord, France.

NOTE: Regimental History & Soldiers Died in the Great War both show rank as Lance Corporal; CWGC web site shows rank as Private.
