Enlisted Chatham.  Resided Chatham, Kent.

1904 March, Medway Registration District, Sidney Valentine J Stears, married Ellen Mabel Grace Garrod, born 1st November 1883.

Children - Horace James Stears, born 7th November 1904; Ellen Frances Stears, born 14th October 1905; Sidney Ralph Stears, born 24th January 1908; Leonard Cyril, Stears, born 21st June 1910.

1911 Census - 6 Cage Lane, Chatham, Kent - Sidney Stears, head, age 29, married, labourer, bricklayer, worker, born Rochester, Kent; Mabel Stears, wife, age 27, married 7 years, 4 children, all still alive, born Chatham, Kent; Francis Powers, mother in law, age 72, widow, born Maidstone, Kent; Horace Stears, son, age 6, born Chatham, Kent; Nellie Stears, daughter, age 5, born Chatham, Kent; Sidney Stears, son, age 3, born Rochester, Kent; Leonard Stears, son, age 1, born Chatham, Kent.

Ellen Mabel Grace Stears, 12 Rhode Street, Chatham, Kent.

Children - Elsie Georgina Stears, born 18th March 1912; Edith? May Stears, born 5th January 1916.

22nd May 1919, pension of 42/1 a week awarded to widow and 6 children.

Buried at Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, XVIII. F. 1/29., Iraq.
