1888 born Chinnor, Oxfordshire, son of Edward and Emily Howlett, of Oakley, Chinnor, Wallingford, Berkshire.

19th May 1910, Zion Chapel, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, married Kate Edith May Watts, spinster of 6 Spring Gardens, Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.

Children - Flossie Stella Howlett, born 18th December 1910, Cricklade, Wiltshire; Edward K Howlett, born April 1914, Cricklade, Wiltshire, died January 1915,  High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Enlisted High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, age 29 years & 2 months, height 5ft 6¾ inches, weight 124lbs.  Resided 6 Spring Gardens, Bourne End, Buckinghamshire / 31 Lindsay Avenue, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire / 24, Emscote Road, Coventry, Warwickshire. Formerly grocers assistant.

Separation Allowance of 16/- a week & Allotment of Pay of 3/6 a week paid to wife.

Home 17th November 1915 to 8th May 1917; BEF 9th May 1917 to 7th June 1917.

17th November 1915, enlisted; 17th November 1915, to Army Reserve; 24th May 1916, posted as Driver, Home Counties (C.P.) Brigade R.F.A., Service No.2365; 24th June 1916, transferred to 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st September 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 13th April 1917, Military Hospital, Chatham, upper dentures provided; 28th April 1917, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 9th May 1917, posted BEF; 24th May 1917, posted 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

7th January 1918, pension of 18/9 a week awarded to widow & one child.

1918, September, High Wycombe Registration District, Kate Edith May Howlett married Leonard W Carter.

Commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Panel 45 and 47., Belgium.
