Lance Corporal Jacob Bunce VIVASH, G/4145,  6th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, Flanders France, 26th February 1916.

Born Swindon, Wiltshire, enlisted 4th September 1914, Bromley, Kent, age 33, resided Bickley, Kent. Formerly schoolmaster.

Previously served for 2 years with 2nd Volunteer Battalion South Middlesex.

21st October 1914, appointed Lance Corporal; 21st January 1915, promoted Acting Corporal, (paid Lance Sergeant); 22nd July 1915, promoted Acting Sergeant; 21st August 1915, rank confirmed as Sergeant; 14th November 1915, debility; 20th November 1915, rejoined Battalion; 7th December 1915, attended 12th Divisional School of Instruction; 22nd December 1915, rejoined Battalion; 5th February 1916, attended 1st Army anti gas school; 10th February 1916, rejoined Battalion.

Buried at Quarry Cemetery, F. 16., Vermelles, Pas de Calais, France.

NOTE: Regimental History & Soldiers Died in the Great War both show rank as Lance Corporal; CWGC web site shows rank as Sergeant.
