Lance Corporal Ernest Archibald FREEBORN,  G/11871, 7th  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, Flanders, France, 18th November 1916, age 21.

Born Sittingbourne, Kent, enlisted 10th December 1915, Chatham, Kent, age 20, height 5ft 9 inches, weight 133lbs, resided 62 Edinburgh Road, Chatham, Kent. Formerly packer.

Son of Albert Edgar and Rosina Freeborn, of 8, Dover Street, Sittingbourne, Kent. Four brothers, two sisters.

Wounded 4th September 1916.

Commemorated at Stump Road, Cemetery, B.44., Grandcourt, Somme, France.

NOTE: Regimental History & Soldiers Died in the Great War spell name as FREEBOURNE & show rank as L/Cpl,  CWGC website spell it as FREEBORN, & shows rank as Private and Service No as 11871. Service Records show name as  FREEBORN & FREEBOURNE and Service No.11871. Soldier signs as FREEBORN.
