Lance Corporal David FOWLER, G/849, "D" Company, 6th  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action,  Flanders France,  3rd October 1915.   

Born Northfleet, Kent, enlisted 31st August 1914, Gravesend, Kent, age 26, height 5ft 6 inches, weight 140lbs. Formerly stevedore.

Son of Mr Joseph (deceased July 20th 1920) & Mrs Annie Fowler, 30 Dorset Place, Lawn Road, Northfleet, Kent & later 19 Samaritan Grove, Northfleet, Kent.  Both deceased by February 1921.

Next of Kin (brother) William Joseph Fowler, 30 Dorset Place, Lawn Road, Northfleet, Kent & Sister, Mrs Susannah Marion Barnes, 19 Samaritan Grove, Northfleet, Kent.

Postings - Home, 31st August 1914 to 31st May 1915; BEF, 1st June 1915 to 3rd October 1915.

Appointed unpaid Lance Corporal, 20th December 1914; Appointed paid Lance Corporal, 16th April 1915; promoted Lance Corporal, 10th September 1914; reverted at own request to Private 29th September 1914.

Commemorated at  Mazingarbe Communal Cemetery, 70, Pas de Calais, France.
