Lance Corporal Cecil BROOK, G/7419, 8th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (formerly 2901, Royal Sussex Regiment),  killed in action, Flanders France, 9th December 1916, age 19. 

Son of James Henry Brook, (1866 - 1917) and Ellenor Clara Joy Brook, (1963 - 1957), of 2, Bankside, Burwash, Etchingham, Sussex.


1911 Census - High Street, Burwash, Sussex - James Henry Brook, head, age 46, married, carpenter, own account, born Burwash, Sussex; Elenor Clara Brook, wife, age 48, married 21 years, 4 children, 3 still alive, born Tunbridge Wells, Kent; Cecil Brook, son, age 13, school,  born Burwash, Sussex; Elenor Clara Brook, daughter, age 11, school,  born Burwash, Sussex; Harold Brook, son, age 6, school,  born Burwash, Sussex.


Enlisted Hastings, Sussex. Resided Burwash, Sussex.

Brother - Edward James Brook, 1892 - 1896. Sister - Eleanor Clara Brook Penfold, 1900 - 1972.

Commemorated at  Philosophe British Cemetery, II.D.6., Pas De Calais, France.

NOTE : Regimental History & Soldiers Died in the Great War show Service No as G/7419, CWGC web site shows it as G/4719.
