Drummer Albert John BLOXHAM, TF/1115, 1st/5th   Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  died of enteric fever, Uttar Pradesh, India, 7th June 1915.

Born Dartford, Kent, son of Albert Edward  & Lily Bloxham, 36 Suffolk Road, Dartford.

Previously served with Dartford Cadet Battalion.


1911 Census - 36 Suffolk Road, Dartford - Albert Bloxham, head, age 39, married, driller in engineering works, born Chatham; Lily Bloxham, wife, age 39, married 19 years, 5 children, all still alive, born Maidstone; Daisy Bloxham, daughter, age 18, single, drapers assistant, born Maistone; Albert Bloxham, son, age 16, single, apprentice boilermaker, born Dartford; Thomas Bloxham, son, age 11, school, born Dartford; Sydney Bloxham, son, age10, school, born Dartford; Frederick Bloxham, son, age 8 months, born Dartford; Sydney Clifford, brother in law, age 36, single, compositor printer, born Maidstone.


Enlisted  Dartford, Kent, age 15, height 5ft 2¼ inches.  Resided 36 Suffolk Road, Dartford. Formerly machinist, Messrs J & E Halls

Home 21st September 1910 to 28th October1914; India 29th October 1914 to 7th June 1915.

21st September 1910, enlisted; 24th September 1910, fathers consent to join 1st/5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th July 1911 to 15th July 1911, Crowborough Camp; 29th October 1914, posted to India.

1913, December Quarter, Dartford Registration District, married Grace E Belton.

9th February 1916, Records Office memo,  death reported to father, 9th June 1915, died at Jhansi of enteric fever, 7th June 1915. Single man according to records in this office.

6th March 1916, pension of 15/- a week awarded to widow and one child.

Buried in Jhansi Cantonment Cemetery, Plot H, Grave 105, Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Commemorated at Madras 1914-1918 War Memorial, Chennai, Face 20, India.
