Corporal Walter Charles PLANNER, S/795, (stretcher bearer), 2nd  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force, 22nd April 1916, (Service Records), (CWGC say 24th April 1916).

Born Lambeth, Middlesex, enlisted 15th September 1914, Bromley, Kent, age 43, height 5ft 6 inches, weight 160lbs, resided Bromley, Kent. Formerly cook.

Formerly served with Scottish Rifles, 26th & 90th. 18 years discharged at own request.

Son of Mrs M A Planner, 51 Binfield  Road, Clapham, SW4.

Husband of Sarah Planner (nee Hamilton), 21 Addison Road, Bromley, Kent. Married 12th January 1906, St Georges, Glasgow.

Children - Walter Frederick Planner, born 25th January 1907, Aldershot; Charles Wilfred Planner, born 26th February 1909, Bromley; William Edward Planner, born 19th December 1911, Bromley; Florence Elizabeth Planner, born 4th April 1915, Bromley.

Postings - Home, 15th September 1914 to 9th December 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force, 10th December 1915 to 24th April 1916.

30th October 1914, promoted Corporal.

17th April 1916, wounded; 22nd April 1916, 21 Canadian Field Ambulance, died of wounds.

13th November 1916, pension awarded of 23/- a week for widow and four children.

Commemorated at Basra Memorial, Panel 29, Iraq.
