Corporal William Arthur LEWIS, G/18116, 7th   Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (formerly 3657, Suffolk Yeomanry),  killed in action, Flanders, France, death assumed between 21st & 28th March  1918, age 22.

Born Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, enlisted  1st March 1916, Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire.

Son of Arthur and Mary Ann Lewis, of 11, West Briggate,  Whittlesey,  Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

Postings - Home, 1st March 1916 to 26th August 1916; BEF, 27th August 1916 to 28th March  1918.

7th September 1916, transferred from Suffolk Yeomanry to Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th August 1917, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 1st March 1918, promoted Corporal.

Commemorated at Pozieres Memorial, Panel 58 and 59, France.
