Corporal John KING, G/10028, "D" Company, 11th  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, (fracture at base of skull), 2 Casualty Clearing Station, Flanders France, 23rd April 1917.

Born Camberwell, SE, son of Joseph Thomas and Charlotte King, of 9 Scipio Street, Peckham, SE.

25th September 1904, married Ada Selena Bennett, of 3, Pearcefield Avenue, Forest Hill, London.

20th September 1915, enlisted, posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, joined at Lewisham, requires dental treatment; 30th September 1915, 1st inoculation ; 9th October 1915, 2nd inoculation; 28th October 1915, vaccinated; 4th December 1915, artificial dentures fitted; 4th February 1916, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 1st March 1916, promoted Corporal; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF; 7th July 1916, wounded in action, unconscious after being hit by sand bags, due to shell explosions, headaches & nervous; 9th July 1916, 3 Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne; to England, Hospital Ship, Martino; 11th July 1916 to 8th August 1916, War Hospital, Bradford; 19th September 1916, Infantry Base, Etaples; 30th September 1916, posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st October 1916, admitted 35 General Hospital, Calais, shell shock; 10th December 1916, arrived at Infantry Base Etaples; 15th December 1916, rejoined Battalion; 23rd April 1917, 2 Casualty Clearing Station, died of wounds, gun shot wounds, fracture at base of skull.

16th May 1917, Mrs Ada Selina King drawing a separation allowance of 34/- and soldier has allotted pay of 3/6.

15th November 1917, pension of 32/6 a week awarded to widow and five children.

Buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, III. B. 103., Nord, France.
