Born Brondesbury, London, NW, son of Mrs Mary E Cheshire, 154 Maygrove Road, West Hampstead.

Enlisted  Bromley, Kent, age 19 years & 1 month, height 5ft 6½ inches, 124lbs. Formerly plumber.

2nd September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th September 1914, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st June 1915, posted BEF; 17th July July 1915, wounded at Duty; 18th March 1916, wounded; 18th March 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 20th March 1916 to 8th May 1916, in hospital, ???? wound of right buttock; 18th May 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st June 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 1st August 1916, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 12th September 1916, posted BEF; 13th September 1916, embarked; 29th September 1916, joined 6th Battalion; 29th September 1916, reverts to unpaid lance Corporal; 7th October 1916, appointed Acting Corporal; 7th October 1916, appointed Corporal; 17th February 1917, Field General Court Martial, found guilty of absenting himself without leave, reduced to the ranks; 21st May 1917, appointed unpaid lance Corporal, 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 22nd May 1917, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 28th June 1917, appointed Acting Corporal;  17th July 1917, posted wounded and missing.

Wounded 12th March 1916, in hospital for 50 days from 20th March 1916, gun shot wound, right buttock.

28th June 1920, Probate - Cheshire George of 154 Maygrove Road, Brondesbury, Middlesex Corporal 6th Royal West Kent Regiment, died on or since 17th July 1917, in France. Administration London 28th June to Mary Elizabeth Cheshire, widow. Effects £52.

Commemorated at  Arras Memorial, Bay 7, Pas de Calais, France.
