Captain John Hill STOKES, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, (attached 1st Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment) died of wounds, 22nd March 1915, age 28.

Son of Francis Alexander and Edith Stokes, of The Cottage, Amersham, Buckinghamshire.

Buried at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, II. B. 8., France.

AWARDS: MC


London Gazette 18th February 1915.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the under mentioned awards for services rendered in connection Operations in the Field. Dated 18th February, 1915.

Awarded the Military Cross.

The Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment)  - Second Lieutenant J. H. Stokes.
