Captain Eric May BATTERSBY, 3rd Battalion attached 1st  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action at Neuve Chapelle, 28th October 1914, age 30.

Born at Knowle. Dunster. Somerset.

Third Son of Worsley (of Knowle Dunster, JP), and his wife Jessie Battersby, of 12, Belvedere Grove, Wimbledon, London. 

Educated Sherborne.

1903, Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment; retired with the rank of Lieutenant in 1906; volunteered for Foreign Service on the outbreak of war, rejoining his old Regiment with his former rank; served with the Expeditionary Force in France & Flanders from 19th September 1914; promoted Captain on the 26th.

Unmarried.

Commemorated at   Le Touret Memorial, Panel 30 & 31, Pas de Calais, France.
