Born Trinity, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, enlisted 8th September 1914, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, age 27, height 5ft 6 inches, resided 7 Golding Street, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Formerly driver.

Previously served in 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, Service No.707. from 12th March 1909, living at 6 Varney Street, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Employed as a joiner for Mr Peat. Annual Training at Dover, 19th May 1909 to 5th June 1909; Dover, 23rd July 1910 to 6th August 1910; Crowborough, 27th July 1911 to 13th August 1911; Worthing, 1912, on leave; Seaford, 1913, on leave.

Husband of Elsie Ada Rogers (nee Shoesmith), 7 Golding Street, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Married 16th April 1911, Parish Church Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Home, 8th September 1914 to 25th July 1915; BEF, 26th Ju1y 1915 to 14th September 1918; 14th September to 27th September 1918. leave to UK; BEF, 28th September 1918 to 19th March 1919.

3rd March 1915, appointed Lance Corporal; 26th June 1915, promoted Corporal; 5th August 1916, appointed Lance Sergeant; 2nd October 1916, promoted Sergeant and appointed Acting Company Quartermaster Serjeant; 25th May 1917, confirmed in rank of Company Quartermaster Serjeant; 19th March 1919, transferred to Reserve demobilized to 7 Golding Street, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

May 1924, disability claim to Ministry of Pensions, for pulmonary (assessed at not attributable to service); Tuberculosis (non aggravated by service), claim rejected.
