Son of Charles Cake, Marjorie Cottage, East Farleigh, Maidstone, Kent.

Home, 22nd June 1915 to 2nd May 1916; BEF, 3rd May 1916 to 1st October 1917; Home, 2nd October 1917 to 17th December 1918.

22nd June 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 22nd June 1915, posted 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF; 23rd September 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 8th December 1916, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 17th August 1917, appointed Acting Corporal; 21st September 1917, wounded; 2nd October 1917, posted Depot; 17th December 1918, appointed Acting Corporal; 17th December 1918, Special Military Surgical Hospital, Shepherds Bush.

17th December 1918, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension 9/- a week for 52 weeks, disability, weakness in left leg following gun shot wound, 30% attributable.
