Second Lieutenant Lionel Frank VINICOMBE, 8th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, (while out with a working party), 29th June 1916, age 29.

Born 1887 at Constantinople.

Youngest son of Charles and Louisa Vinicombe, of 36, Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, England. 

Educated at George Watson's College, Edinburgh & Kings College, London, (1907, in the Faculty of Science),  & after wards went to the National Gymnasium in Stockholm.

At the outbreak of war, teacher at Borough Road College, Brunel University, London.

December 1914, granted a commission in the Devonshire Regiment; November 1915, posted BEF & transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment.

Buried at Dranoutre Military Cemetery, I. F. 19., Belgium & commemorated at Kings College.

London Gazette 25th November 1915.

The under mentioned temporary Second Lieutenants are transferred from (Reserve) Battalions, with seniority from the dates shown against their names.
